A pair of cowrie cufflinks, cast in solid sterling silver from a shell collected from the Orkney shoreline.

Cowrie studs are known more commonly as Groatie Buckies here in Orkney where there's a constant competition as to who can collect the most. (Though this takes some good eyesight and a lot of patience!). They are thought to be a token of good luck.
